Today jurors are hearing from Sheri Coleman’s friends, testimony that shows a crumbling marriage and physical abuse that took a harsh toll on the young wife in her final months.

4.25.11: Chris Coleman triple murder trial begins
The Chris Coleman triple murder trial started Monday morning without the big crowd of spectators for which Monroe County Sheriff Dan Kelley planned. Eight officers were working security outside the courthouse, more were handling prisoner and witness transportation and a lottery was held for spectators to get inside the courtroom. O’Gara has defended death penalty cases and currently is defending Chris Coleman, who is charged with slaying his wife and two sons in Columbia, Ill. Coleman faces the death penalty if convicted.
